The Internet Society ( ISOC) Luxembourg is a not-for-profit organization and is chartered with the Internet Society. It has been founded 4 years ago to address a vacuum within the Luxembourg Internet community where no user forum existed. Ever since, ISOC Luxembourg has organized training sessions and conferences of both local and international appeal.

The RESTENA Foundation was established by the institutions of higher education and research in Luxembourg in order to enforce the operation and development of the high quality national network infrastructure RESTENA (Réseau Téléinformatique de l'Education Nationale et de la Recherche ) which was initiated in 1989. Additionally, some key Internet services like the Domain Name Service for the Internet top-level domain .LU and the Luxembourg Internet eXchange (LIX) are operated by the RESTENA Foundation.
The Service des Médias et des Communications – Ministère d’Etat (Media and Telecommunications Department – Prime Minister’s Office) was set up in 1991 to deal with media and telecommunications policy, including Internet, content, information society and data protection issues. Furthermore, it is in charge of coordinating the national implementation of the European Union eEurope plan (“eLuxembourg”)
